The season for summer vacation flexing is here. We know that vacations can get pricey but, we are here to tell you that staycations are still vacations. They can be just as fun and half the cost. So here are five reasons you should do a staycation this summer.
1. Save on flights
Flights tend to be pricey especially during the peak season. So, doing a staycation in your city or state will cut your costs significantly. Your trip could be a short train ride, bus ride, or even an uber away. You’d be surprised what unique places are less than 30 minutes from your neighborhood.
2. Find local hidden gems
Most people will tell you that they’ve never explored their neighborhood. It’s like the longer you stay somewhere the more you have no idea the awesomeness that surrounds you. Planning a staycation will force you to find new things to do in your area. You might even stumble upon some photo-worthy spots, but most importantly you’ll find new things to do in your area even when the staycation is over.
3. Spend more time actually vacationing:
One of the least fun part of vacations is getting to your destination. Sometimes you find yourself spending 2 of your vacation days traveling to and from your destination. Staycationing close to home means you get those extra two days to relax or explore! Who doesn’t want two extra days of vacation?
4. No culture shock
Sometimes going somewhere new is fun, other times it can be an emotionally exhausting to be thrust into a new culture. Thinking about what to say, what to wear, and what’s safe to eat can all be a little overwhelming when all you want to do is relax, drink, and maybe binge watch Netflix in a room that you are not in charge of cleaning. Staycations allow you to do all those things without the hassle or anxiety of culture shock.
5. Close enough to connect
Staying close to home also means that you can involve friends and family in activities if you choose. On most vacations, if family or friends can’t book a flight then they only get to see your adventures through social media. Staycationing close to home allows you to plan activities (at night or during the weekend) that your friends and family can also enjoy. That way they can be a part of your vacation without breaking the bank or losing vacation days.
