MEFeater Magazine is quickly becoming a staple during New York Fashion Week! Our first Fashion Girl Summit was a trailblazing set of panels during the Fall 2023 season. Since 2022, we’ve celebrated women at the 2024 NYFW Galentine’s Fashion Show. It’s an excellent time for fashionistas and designers to unite and honor their first love — fashion.
The upcoming Galentine’s event offers attendees the chance to actively engage in studying fashion, finding inspiration, and showing support for marginalized communities. CLUB PINK is making its return, serving as the official after-party. We are also hosting the Galentine’s Dinner-Soirée, where MEFeater honors and empowers women creatives.
Most impressively, this year’s Galentines will feature a designer expo. Shop Women is our new platform for up-and-coming fashion brands to display designs and make sales. This is a fantastic opportunity for designers to present their pieces beyond the runway. It also allows attendees and browsers to discover new brands and support minorities.
For the 2024 Galentine’s Fashion Show, MEFeater is emphasizing the concept of “The Ultimate Girl’s Girl.” In following this theme, we are tasked with supporting minority-owned businesses, specifically women-owned businesses. The Shop Women presentation aims to further amplify and drive sales for these brands.
Shop Women attendees will have the opportunity to browse, shop, and pre-order items from women-centered designers, including HALIQ, June8th, LuLu James Wear, and Hoyang Poon.
Shop Women provides designers more support.
After producing the fashion show for two years, our CEO and staff noticed we needed to do more. The Galentines Fashion Show typically features 4-5 designers on the runway. Keeping in theme with the “Ultimate Girl’s Girl,” the team brainstormed ways to feature and support more brands. As a result, we have Shop Women.
Ra Atalay, our Brand Partnerships Lead, describes Shop Women as exposure for young creatives.
“We’re really excited to extend MEF’s platform by providing an opportunity for new & emerging designers to showcase their pieces. The price of producing a runway show, or even a pop-up shop, can be unattainable for young creatives. Shop Women provides an accessible platform for brands created by women of color (and allies) to be spotlighted. Through Shop Women, we hope to not only boost sales and exposure for these brands but curate a trendsetting and community-centered shopping experience for our audience,” she said.
For our annual fashion show, we wanted to intentionally highlight women and all of their contributions to fashion. We want to shine a spotlight on the talents that those participating possess. Most importantly, we want to inspire and uplift women.
MEFeater Magazine will always be for the community.
As MEFeater Magazine grows, we are pushing to provide more opportunities for minorities and the fashion community to connect. We have been known to host events, free of charge for attendees. With our rapid growth, free events are not always possible. The Shop Women presentation is free for those who purchase a Galentine’s Fashion Show ticket.
It is important for us to showcase minority-owned brands continuously. In doing so, we know that customer access must be there.

1. HALIQ
Haliq is a Black-owned luxury handbag brand. Alise Haliq, an Atlanta-born designer, owns it. The brand launched in 2022 and was featured in the first annual ‘Buy Black’ Pop Up Shop at Nordstrom’s Phipps Plaza. Since then, the brand has continued to gain traction and catch the eye of new customers.
Haliq handbags are one of a kind, as they present sleek designs and colorways to provide customers with new options. The handbags stand out in the sea of mundane luxury bags, making them a must-have for our Shop Women expo!
2. Hoyang Poon
Hoyang Poon is a fashion brand focused on womenswear, specifically swimwear and lingerie. It is owned by Hoyang Poon who named the brand after herself. She often finds inspiration in the small joys in life, like food and art.
The founder created the brand for her and her friends to wear, irrespective of size. As a made-to-order fashion brand, this is of the utmost importance to Poon. For her, it is not just about clothes that fit everyone, but clothes that fit the physique of her customers.
3. LuLu James Wear
LuLu James Wear is a custom fur and leather fashion brand. Devon Milan, who has been a stylist in the fashion industry for years, is the proud owner of the brand. She has styled the likes of Kanye West and Big Latto. Our previous Galentines Fashion Shows also featured her.
LuLu James Wear provides luxury, exotic furs, and leather. She draws inspiration from the latest trends and elevates them with an edgy touch. The current collection offers hats, coats, boots, and other accessories. Get your coins ready, because you will want to pre-order something!
4. June8th
Launched in 2020, June8th is a fashion brand that honors women’s confidence with an edge. Larry, who has been a celebrity stylist since 2016, owns it. He started by styling his friends for prom and other school activities. Harlem Fashion Week dubbed him as an emerging designer.
June8th takes typical women’s fashion and adds an edge that boosts women’s confidence. Fit for many sizes, June8th has unpredictable cutouts, refreshing patterns, and elevated designs. You will want to see his designs at the Shop Women expo.
We are excited to be featuring these designers in our first Shop Women presentation! It is an honor to provide these platforms to the brands and attendees.
