For over 300 years African-Americans of African descent have been oppressed by those who hate and despise the color of our skin. As we walk into a new age of technology, what was unbeknownst to us, has now been uncovered. Who knew in 2020, viewing the souls leaving helpless black men would be trending on our time lines.. How long must we continue to hear our brothers and sisters say, “I can’t breathe.” Black men are a valuable asset to any community in association. So we want to speak to the beauty, pain and presence of a black man through this project. As many videos arise, the word lynching arose.

I wanted to change the perspective on the deaths of the men that were lost.. in association, I think about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.. he was accused of unlawful crimes, false identity, was beaten and hung to die. Although this was unfair, and considered to be the worst deaths in history, there was beauty in his death. There was also significance in death and power in being the sacrifice for better. We honor men like George Floyd, pleading for God, for help and for air.

This visual will come from the heart, soul, and pain from our ancestors and the hurt from those around us in this day in age. I deem any black creative pouring into this project to turn our pain, confusion and oppression into work that would make those who lost their lives for change, proud. To send a message to those the opposite color of our skin, that we are human and that we deserve to live.
